How WE Adventure…

A friend once said of me and my partner Kyle, “you grow no moss”. I fully approve that quote. We’ve always endeavored to explore the world. We’ve spent years traveling as frequently as possible—with a tendency to plan our adventures around beautiful places to run, bike, ski, drink coffee, drive aimlessly, drink beer and eat.

2020 brought all that to a halt due to you know what. We switched gears and finally got around to designing and building our first adventure van, a 2019 Sprinter named KOGAI—the Japanese word for “outdoors”. KOGAI has been a blessing. Spending quarantine lockdown planning, designing, sourcing and finally building the van was just the creative outlet and focus needed. It was also pretty awesome to build something with our own hands. KOGAI allowed us to plan for adventure when the world re-opened. We leveraged our talents and built new skills while meeting some incredible people in the DIY community.

We discovered our complimentary skillsets were perfect for designing and building vans. Now we want to help others create the ultimate getaway vehicle. How We Adventure is an invitation to join us and WE the community who love adventuring in their vans.

MEET THE CREW

Ed Carter-The Designer

The creative behind How We Adventure. With 20+ years designing interiors, retail experiences/concepts and marketing campaigns for the likes of Nike, West Elm, and Burberry, Ed leads the design and interior finishing of all our vans. You’ll collaborate with Ed on the ideal interior layout, material selection and finishes knowing he is always willing to create something uniquely tuned to your adventures.

When not designing, Ed is a frequent instigator of random adventure ideas that mildly annoy Kyle and excite Koda the pup. He’s always looking for inspiration from the places discovered and the experiences along the way.

Kyle Setzer-The Engineer

The engineer AKA the “make shit happen” guy behind How We Adventure. With a background in sourcing, innovative manufacturing, and creative solutions for process optimization, you’ll collaborate with Kyle while designing the systems to power your van. Kyle is the one who makes the system design of your van safe, functional, and capable for all adventures.

When not wiring a system or designing solutions to make Ed’s designs come to life, Kyle is frequently consuming coffee or planning our next adventure with a beer in hand.

KOda the adventure pup

Described by the humane society as “exuberant”. Koda was rescued during 2020 quarantine and is always ready for adventure. She’s got hops, loves to run, lick calves, catch frisbees, chase vermin, and is pretty much the best beast ever.

The ORIGINAL and always our first. Imagined and built by Kyle and Ed with a few helping paws from Koda. After 10 weeks of labor she was born and we hit the road in July, 2020. Stoked for adventure always—If you see KOGAI out and about on the road, say hey!
